Deployment Automation Features

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 116 views

Endpoint Admin provides several automation features for assignment, patching and deployment of applications distributed using Microsoft Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager, each of which is described as a subsection of this section.

Read about Smart Patching and Auto Smart Patching for automation of the creation, maintenance and assignment of device groups to applications.

Read about Auto Deployment to learn how to configure automatic deployment of applications to Intune based on detected unmanaged application instances found on the devices in your Entra ID tenant.

It is recommended to read about Smart Patching first, as Auto Deployment integrates with Auto Smart Patching to inform its deployment strategy.

All Deployment Automation settings can be found under the Application Management section of the Endpoint Admin portal:

Deployment Automation Settings Management as an MSP

As an MSP you can easily view the state of all the deployment automation settings of each managed subscription by clicking the “Managed Subscriptions Settings”-button inside of the Deployment Automation page:

Clicking this button will open a modal containing a table of all subscriptions and the enablement state of each, you can then simply view or change the enablement state of each setting on each subscription:

As an MSP, you still need to be aware of the needs of your clients before enabling any automation. Ensure to configure appropriate exclusions and device scopes if needed on each subscription before enabling one of the automations.
